Stephen has been an advisor since 1997 and active in Advocis since then. He was a provincial winner of the Leslie W Dunstall Memorial Medal in 2003 for highest CLU exam marks in the province. He has served on the Advocis Nova Scotia board in a number of roles since 1997 including 3 years as President.

Stephen has also been very active on the national level serving on the Institute board since 2010, and as Education chair from 2012-2018, and chair in 2018. Stephen is currently serving as Treasurer on the Advocis Board. He also has volunteered on the Atlantic School board since 2009 and has facilitated many Advocis PD days.

Before the financial industry Stephen spent a number of years in the hospitality Industry including 6 years as a Tour Director for Tauck Tours here in Nova Scotia, New England and New Orleans

Currently Stephen’s volunteer efforts besides the Institute and Atlantic School include treasurer for the Spryfield Lions Rink as well as a member of “100 Men Who Give a Dam” and other charitable causes.

Stephen graduated in 1987 with a BBA from University College of Cape Breton and obtained his MBA in 2007 from Saint Mary’s University. He is a true believer in lifelong learning. He operates his financial planning practice in Halifax where is lives with his wife Carolyn. He enjoys most sports but especially enjoys boating on the Bras d’Or lakes every summer.
